Black History Month Celebration Event

Monday, May 11, 2020

On Tuesday, February 4th from 6-8:30 p.m. Black History Month celebrations in Finance and Business were kicked off with a movie screening of “Harriet” and followed by a discussion with Dr. Amira Davis following the movie. All of those in attendance learned, through the movie, the extraordinary tale of Harriet Tubman’s escape from slavery and transformation into one of America’s greatest heroes whose courage, ingenuity and tenacity freed hundreds of slaves and changed the course of history. Through the discussion, led by Dr. Davis, attendees were made more aware of Tubman’s story, just how close her experience of slavery was to Pennsylvania, and other extraordinary facts of Tubman’s work as she helped to reshape America.
